Products Grown in Sakaki

10 % of Sakaki's arable land is used for growing the area's special products: famous Shinshu apples and grapes, as well as roses, carnations and other flowers. Don't miss a chance to partake of some of the locally grown produce!

Apples

Sakaki's many sunny days and relatively low precipitation make it an ideal climate for growing apples. The most popular variety grown here, Fuji apples, are harvested in November.
Grapes

Sakaki's Concord (kyohou) grapes are simply heavenly, thanks to the great climate and the hard work of local farmers. These sweet flavorful grapes comprise 90% of all those grown in Sakaki.
Naka-no-jou Daikon Radishes

These slightly spicy radishes are an ingredient in several of the local traditional foods. Sweet and mild at first, the lingering spicy flavor of these daikon make them a great ingredient in all kinds of dishes.
Flowers

Local farmers using the latest methods produce flowers of exceptional quality. Local roses and other flowers make up appoximately 40 percent of Nagano's billion-yen-plus flower industry.
